Registration Open for Seminole’s Art in the Park

SEMINOLE — The city is seeking artists and fine crafters to sign up for its fourth annual Art in the Park, which will take place Saturday, April 27, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Seminole City Park, 7464 Ridge Rd.

Art in the Park is turning into one of Seminole Recreation’s signature events, said Duane Crandall, recreation program coordinator.

“It’s something that’s grown every year,” he said. “We see it becoming one of our bigger events.”

This year he expects around 40 vendors, an increase over the previous year. Though they’re limited by the amount of space available in the park, the Seminole Recreation team has come up with some new ideas on how to arrange the artists and maximize the space.

“We want to make sure we give the artists plenty of room,” Crandall said.

This year they’ll also introduce a featured artist for the event, painter Jill Ott, who calls Seminole home.

“She’s a Seminole resident and has a good story behind her,” Crandall said. “We thought we’d try something different and highlight her a little.”

Artists featured at the event present a wide variety of work, from wood sculptures to paintings and fine craft.

“There’s something for everybody’s taste there,” Crandall said.

Cost for a vendor space is $25. The idea is to keep the event accessible to artists.

“We want to make sure they have a platform they can afford in the city,” he said.
