Redingtons, Indian Shores Seek Boaters for Parade
REDINGTON BEACH – There is nothing better than a parade during the holiday season. Wait! … maybe there is. It’s a boat parade!
Sunday, Dec. 16, the communities of Redington Beach, North Redington Beach, Redington Shores and Indian Shores will hold a combined lighted boat parade. With lights gleaming off the cool ripples in the water and holiday sounds coming from the lavishly decorated vessels you can’t help but get into the spirit of the season.
The parade will begin at 5:45 p.m. at the Tom Stuart Causeway, and follow a route northward along the Intracoastal Waterway to Caddy’s Pub in Indian Shores.
Designated public viewing areas are the Indian Shores Town Hall, 19305 Gulf Blvd., and the County Boat Park/Launch, 18651 Gulf Blvd., Indian Rocks Beach.
New this year is a lighted dock decorating contest. For residential docks located in Redington Beach, North Redington Beach, Redington Shores and Indian Shores, this is an opportunity to show not only jolly holiday spirit, but creativity and individuality. Judging of decorations and lighting is limited to the dock itself; illuminated trees, homes and any other structure not over water will not be considered.
Docks must be registered, receive a number and clearly display that number to be eligible.
Prizes and bragging rights will be awarded to the top three docks in each community.
Preceding those competitions, on Thursday, Dec. 13, the top three homes decorated for the holidays in each community will be named.
