City of Largo to Smoke Test Sewer Lines

The City of Largo has hired McKim & Creed, Inc. to smoke test the sanitary sewer lines in Largo. The goal is to locate potential areas where stormwater or ground water might be entering the wastewater system.

Smoke will be circulated into the sewer lines and manholes to locate broken pipes and other defects. The smoke is non-toxic leaves no residue and creates no fire hazard. While the smoke may exit from rooftop vent pipes, it will not enter homes unless there is defective plumbing present or the drain traps are dry. If potential problems are found on private property, property owners will be notified of repairs that need to be made.

Testing is scheduled to begin the week of November 4, 2019, and should be completed by the end of the week, depending on the weather.
